Surfacing the Elephant in the room..........

Until 3 decade back, the world faced the immense problem of communicating while on the move. This gave birth to mobile phone. The problem of managing business transaction from anywhere in the world gave us internet connectivity and ecommerce.

From home to office – we are always surrounded by problems. As put by a great researcher, “we are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems”. Yes, it requires skills to solve problems and seek opportunity.

Day in day out we solve problems. But most of the times, we address the symptoms.  Problem solving is a unique blend of Science and Art. Understanding and defining a problem is a Science. Exploring the most appropriate and creative solution is an Art. And, implementing the solution is Management.

A problem well stated Is problem half solved. How to state a Problem. The 5 Process Questions are:
1.      Who has the Problem?
2.      What is the Problem?
3.      Where is the Problem?
4.      Since When is the Problem?
5.      How Much is the Problem?

The above steps will help you to differentiate between a perception based problem and well stated problem. One accurate measure is worth a thousand expert opinions.
